Mr Heyburn's Class
For everything you need to know about Year 5 please read our
Check out what activities we have been getting up to in the classroom
🌟 Today the two Y5 classes went to Coleraine Town Hall to perform two pieces of poetry that they had learned. What a talented bunch! The pupils won 1st place in their category and then won the overall winner prize! We are beyond proud of the boys and girls and are so pleased that everyone took part, gave it their all and did so well. 🏆
It was lovely to hear from many at the event and to read on our official feedback about how smartly dressed we were and how tidy we looked in our school uniform.
Many thanks to Mrs Hayes for all her hard work in preparing the children.

5RH have started to create a rainforest collage. So far we have used lots of different types of paper to create our rainforest canopy backgrounds. These will make the perfect backdrops for some rainforest creatures.

Dear Parent/Carer
As part of our involvement in the Sustrans Active School Travel programme, we will be offering an optional cycling skills session, which will be led by Johnny McCrystal our Sustrans Active Travel Officer on Friday 3rd May for Year 5 pupils.
The session will take place outdoors on the school playground and focus on fun skills games (aimed at improving co-ordination, balance and awareness). Pupils need to already be able to ride a bike to take part in the session.
All pupils will be required to wear a helmet in order to take part. Please make sure the helmet fits well and adjust straps at home beforehand if necessary. Opting out of wearing a helmet must have written parent/guardian permission provided to Sustrans. Please also ensure that they bring along weather appropriate clothing E.g. A waterproof coat if it is due to be wet.
Your child must bring a safe and roadworthy bike. The Sustrans officer is trained to check bikes. If a bike is deemed unsafe, then the trainee will not be able to participate in the training. Please see checklist on the letter sent home today.
If your child would like to take part, please complete the consent slip on the letter sent home today with pupils and return to Mrs Keyte by Wednesday 1st May. As places are limited, the first 30 returned slips will be granted a place.
