Year 7 have been enjoying reading our class novel 'Friend or Foe' by Michael Morpurgo. Our novel is linked to our topic 'Keep calm and carry on'. The story is about two boys from London who are evacuated to the country during World War 2.
Today we had a debate on the postive and negative aspects of being evacuated to the countryside. Everyone thought of lots of good reasons on both sides of the argument.
After the children had to predict what they thought might happen in the next chapter of the novel.

Mrs Thom's class took the Key Stage 2 assembly today. Our assembly was all about the season of Advent. Year 7 told the children lots of facts and information about Advent and how we can prepare for Christmas. Some of the children then showed the Kindness Advent Calendars that they had made in class and read out some of the things behind the windows. The class then finished assembly by singing their favourite Christmas song with actions!

Year 7 enjoyed a fantastic morning with Paul Logan developing their tennis skills. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the 9 sessions during Term 1 with Paul and we believe we have some future tennis stars!

Mrs Thom's class have been completing lots of activities to mark Road safety week. We looked at the impact of wearing bright fuorescent clothes and accessories to be seen in the dark. We discussed the upcoming 'Ditch the dark' day and made posters in the computer suite to advertise it.
Next we completed an experiment to see the difference wearing fluorescent clothes has when a light is shone on to it compared to dark clothing. We highlighted the importance of wearing bright clothes when you are a pedestrian or cyclist at this time of the year.

This week we have been celebrating Friendship week in class by completing a variety of activities.
On Monday for Kindness day we completed a Kindness wheel were we thought about how we could show kindness to ourselves, our peers, our family and in our school and community.
Yesterday we watched an article on NewsDesk about Anti Bullying week and the different types of bullying and how to speak out if we are bullied or we witness bullying.
Today we thought about what qualities and traits made a good friend and we made a garden of tulips with these qualtiies and traits on the flowers.
