7NT Carousel Activity

Year 7 completed their carousel activity linked to their new topic 'Are you wise?'

This term we are looking at transitions to our new schools and things we need to do for the first time such as catching a bus, reading our timetable and organising our resources for each subject!

We will also be looking at other themes such as Keeping Safe both on line and when we are walking or cycling by ouselves.

We also thought about other responsibilities we may have as we grow up such as having a part time job and being responsible for managing our money.

After we discussed all these topics each group composed questions they would like to find out during this term.

They also enjoyed sorting materials using different sized sieves as well as taking turns to use the VR headset to use the Terex machines in a quarry.

We are all learning lots of different skills and all about engineering!

Year 7NT creative coding!

Year 7 have been using their coding skills to create rotating patterns of a square, triangle and hexagon.  They needed to use their numeracy skills to think about the number of sides and angles required for each shape initially, and once they had created their code, they then thought about how they could use the 'repeat code' command to create a spiral design by rotating the pattern through 360 degrees. The children created some lovely patterns!

Y7NT Terex Engineering Programme

Year 7NT enjoyed their third week of the Terex Engineering Programme this week. They thought more about their designs from last week and started to put the parts of their machine onto card before decorating them.

They also enjoyed sorting materials using different sized sieves as well as taking turns to use the VR headset to use the Terex machines in a quarry.

We are all learning lots of different skills and all about engineering!

Sacrament of Confirmation

Congratulations to George and Oliver, two of our Year 7 pupils, for making their Sacrament of Confirmation today.

The boys joined with the Year 7's from St Brigid's Primary school at Our Lady & St Patrick's church in Ballymoney. Thanks very much to Fr McCaughan for the lovely service and to the staff of St Brigid's for making us feel so welcome.
