Year 6 finished their clay scarab beetle amulets by painting them with acrylic pens to give them an ornate, decorative finish. The Ancient Egyptians wore scarab beetle amulets because the scarab symbol carried powerful spiritual meaning. They believed the scarab beetle was a symbol of new life and creation and associated them with death and rebirth. People in Ancient Egypt wore scarab beetles as protective charms which would bring them good luck.
