Year 4 STEM Workshop with Good Relations Project:- Chinese New Year Themed Workshops

10th Mar 2026

Year 4 had an amazing STEM Workshop with Good Relations Project: Chinese New Year Themed workshop session, on Monday 2nd March. The boys and girls in Year 4 in Mrs Murphy’s, Mrs McNaughton’s and Mrs Mack’s classes, all worked together in groups to design and make a Chinese Themed Kite. A huge thank you is extended to the presenters, Glenn and George, from “ Go Fly Your Kite.” This STEM project was funded by the Good Relations Project by the Causeway Coast and Glens District Borough Council. During this STEM workshop, to promote Cultural Diversity, the boys and girls in Year 4 learnt about Chinese traditions, cultures and celebrations for the Chinese New Year. This was a very special, practical and engaging way of learning together to understand and respect other traditions in our local communities.
Thanks to our local council, for funding and arranging this STEM workshop with “Go Fly Your Kite,” to promote Peace and Reconciliation in the Community.
Finally, there was great excitement afterwards, when the boys and girls had fun, flying the Chinese Themed Kites in our spacious, wonderful school, grounds.
This was an interesting STEM workshop, to also promote our, “ Curiosity,” for Science Week UK celebrations, being held in our school this week.

Many Thanks Mrs Murphy
