Year 5 Go Wild at Belfast Zoo!
What an unforgettable day our Year 5 pupils had on their recent trip to Belfast Zoo! From the moment the bus arrived at the foot of Cave Hill, excitement filled the air and it didn’t take long before the adventure truly began.
As we climbed the winding paths of the zoo, the children were eager to spot some of their favourite animals. There were gasps of amazement and delighted squeals when we came face-to-face with a Cheetah running in the sunshine, playful monkeys swinging through the trees, and towering giraffes gracefully stretching to reach their food.
One of the highlights of the day was the visit to the primate section, where pupils observed the fascinating behaviours of chimpanzees and spider monkeys. Many budding scientists made notes and asked thoughtful questions, showing fantastic curiosity about the animals and their habitats.
Our pupils were brilliant ambassadors for the school, listening carefully, asking insightful questions, and demonstrating excellent manners throughout.
Of course, no trip would be complete without a picnic! Laughter echoed across the picnic area as friends shared lunch, stories, and plenty of snacks. With energy levels restored, the exploring continued, with highlights including the Rainforest House (a firm favourite for the brave!) then a trip to the Zoo Park.
The day was rounded off with tired legs but big smiles as we made our journey back to school, full of wonderful memories. It was a fantastic opportunity for learning outside the classroom, bringing our studies to life in the most exciting way possible.
A huge well done to Year 5 for their excellent behaviour and a big thank you to all the staff and helpers who made the day such a success!
What a roaring good time we had!
