Coleraine Speech and Drama Festival - Choral Speaking Choir

A huge congratulations to our year 5 choral speakers who won first place in the festival. They performed their two poems, "The Crocodile" and "The Sound Collector", in seamless unity with incredible confidence and animation! What a fantastic accomplishment! Well done ladies!

Representing our school at the festival we had pupils ranging from years 1-7. We were delighted to hear of highly commended prizes for our little stars in year 1 all the way up to our shooting stars in year 7. Well done to our fantastic performers who gave their all!

Two very different poems clinched third place at the festival this year. "The Day I Got My Finger Stuck Up My Nose" by Brian Patten had us all giggling while "Friends" by Elizabeth Jennings is a very pensive, insightful poem. This shows the depth and variety represented at the festival and the skill and versatility of our young people. Well done to both of you!

What a delight it was to have both our year 4 boys return from the festival with joint second place! Their performances of "Homework" provided a long list of excuses that we often devise to avoid doing homework for as long as possible. Both boys played their part with enthusiasm and conviction! We can't wait to see what you will both achieve in years to come!

What great work from two very talented young men. "Sshhhhhh!" written by a familiar famous name, Julia Donaldson, was a very sharp, hushed poem. In comparison, "Daddy Fell Into The Pond" was a laugh-out-loud delight! Two very well deserved prizes - well done boys!

What an armful! Congratulations to our year 6 champion who not only won first place in his class but was also contacted to return to the festival to receive a special award for his performance of "The Painting Lesson" by Trevor Harvey. What an impressive performance!
